There is no way to completely avoid pilling. You may even notice slight pilling with initial use. This can be reduced or removed during the washing and drying process. Slight pilling is normal for natural fibers, especially in response to friction, and isn't a fault or defect. However, we do have some recommendations that should help to reduce it in the future.
- Wash according to the care instructions by using a short wash cycle and gentle detergents.
- Do not wash with towels or polyester or other abrasive fabrics, such as jeans. One cause of pilling is friction applied to the fabric. This also includes rough skin such as bare feet rubbing against the fabric.
- Although these sheets can tumble dry on low, we would recommend taking them out promptly after the drying process is complete, rather than letting them sit to bake in the dryer. Since friction is one of the primary causes, you could even forgo the dryer and allow them to hang dry.
For the pilling that has already occurred, we would recommend using something like a fabric shaver to reduce that.
